Never Doubt God's Plan

It is hard to believe that just three days ago I was crowned Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2015!  I am so excited to begin this new adventure and so incredibly grateful to have been chosen to represent Oklahoma this year.

I have already been asked by many to describe my experiences in competing, so below is a synopsis of my journey to becoming Miss Oklahoma Teen USA.  Although I have written below my opinion on why each individual was chosen, we all know everything happens for a reason and that timing is everything.  Each individual mentioned below won because it was simply God’s plan.

My first year competing

4th runner-up

Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2011

My journey in this endeavor started five years ago when I was just fourteen years old.  I remember not expecting much and mainly wanted to make friends with girls who were hopefully like myself.  I never expected at that age to end up in the top five and I was absolutely not equipped to answer onstage questions with ease.  I remember the gold dress I wore was bought from an outlet store, was missing sequins, was too big, and during pageant weekend had to be taped to my body with double sided duct tape because it kept falling off of me.  I came away from that weekend with the fondest of memories and friendships that I continue to have today.  This was the year that Alma Sandoval won Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2011.  I wasn’t surprised by the outcome, she was beautiful, performed well, had the sweetest nature and oh my goodness her hair was stunning!

My second year competing

3rd runner-up

Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2012

I remember this year being ecstatic to be reunited with friends, visiting with the current titleholders, and wearing a dress that did not have to be taped on.  I showed up a little heavier than the year before and wore a swimsuit that was not very appealing to say the least.  I thought I was ready, but clearly still had some maturing to do before they chose me as a titleholder.  This is the year that Jessica Morgan won Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2012.  It was clear to me why she won, this girl was on fire!  She came back and was fit, her wardrobe was perfect, and her dedication and drive was insane.  She was ready and clearly wanted it badly enough to work incredibly hard to make it happen.  I was impressed by her and knew she deserved to be Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2012!

My third year competing

1st runner-up

Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2013

I began my quest for this title differently than the year before.  I was more mature, worked harder, and put in the time and effort I needed to succeed.  I ate healthy, worked out and clearly was more focused this year.  I was more driven and felt like I was ready for the job.  This is the year that Graham Turner won Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2013.  Anyone that has met Graham Turner understands why she won.  She has to be one of the most beautiful, kindest souls I have ever met.  Her smile is contagious and her positive energy radiates when she enters a room.  I absolutely love this girl so much!

My forth year competing

1st runner-up

Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2014

This year I remained dedicated to reaching my goal by eating healthy and working out.  I tried to stay positive as I grew tired of wondering ‘why not me?’  This is the year that Brooklynne Bond won Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2014.  Brooklynne is absolutely stunning!  Her walk is amazing and she owns the runway! When she hit the stage you couldn’t take your eyes off of her. She is not only stunning on the outside but is so beautiful on the inside.

My fifth year competing

WINNER!

Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2015

I started out this year more determined than ever.  I followed my diet and exercise plan religiously and promised myself that I would walk away knowing that I did everything in my power to be the best version of me I could be.  I was determined to enjoy the journey of preparing and to embrace the challenges I faced in doing so.  I no longer felt I needed to be crowned to feel worthy.  I knew I would be disappointed if I was not chosen, but learned from past experiences that it may not be in God’s plan for my life.   I cherish the memories I have from competing each year and I wouldn’t change a thing.  I have come to trust God’s plan wholeheartedly.
